EQUINE MASSAGE THERAPY & TECHNIQUES

Welcome to Cape Equine Therapy, school for Equine Sports Massage Therapy, Swellendam, South Africa.

Equine Sports Massage Therapy is the therapeutic application of hands-on massage techniques for the purpose of increasing circulation, relaxing muscle spasms, relieving tension, enhancing muscle tone, and increasing range of motion in high performance horses.

United by trust, the energy that flows through all of us can be harnessed in wonderful ways. To create harmony in every aspect of your world. Everything is connected, we are not alone, not separate, not adrift in a meaningless universe. You were born for a reason and you are unique. No one else has your combination of talents and experience. Awareness of your soul and those around you bring understanding and helps you remember who you really are and what you came to do. We are all looking for our own significance to this world we live in and the role that we play to survive and prosper on the path that we choose to walk.

Swellendam is home to a herd of horses with much to offer you to further your vocation and interest in the unique art of touch in Equine Massage Therapy. At our facilities we now offer a internationally recognized certificated course in Equine Sports Therapy and Massage.

The sports massage therapist has studied anatomy and muscular structure, and how to relax and tone constricted or tense muscles. The equine sports massage therapist (ESMT) can locate muscle groups in the horse, knows where and how to access the deeper muscles, can probe for tightness, and is experienced with the techniques used to influence the large muscles of the horse’s body. The ESMT also has experience in working with horses of varied disciplines, training methods, and personality types.
